Hey there! I’m Karina, the adventurous heart and soul behind Solo Travel, a place where I aim to inspire and guide you on your journey to explore the world on your terms. From a young age, I felt drawn to the excitement of discovering new places, and that passion has only grown stronger over time.
Travel isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s an essential element of who I am. Whether it’s flying solo to Dublin from the UK or embarking on other short solo adventures, I’ve embraced travel as a way to break free from the daily grind and live life to the full. I’ve come to believe that every solo trip makes us richer in spirit and experience.
I’ve reached a point in my life—nearing the age of 50, with four grown-up children and one grandchild—where I want to share my love for travel with others. My experiences taught me that the world is open to anyone willing to take the leap, regardless of where they are in life.
Through Solo Travel, I hope to inspire you to embark on your own journeys and discover the transformative power of exploring on your own. You’ll find that there’s a wealth of experiences waiting for you beyond the familiar routines of daily life. Now that I’ve shared a bit about where I’m coming from, let me walk you through what sparked the creation of Solo Travel and how I can help make affordable solo trips a reality for you.
Solo Travel: Your Guide to Affordable Solo Accommodation Options
As I embarked on my solo travels, one question constantly echoed in my mind: how can I make exploring the world affordable, especially when going it alone? Solo Travel was born to answer that very question, helping other travelers discover affordable accommodation options without sacrificing comfort or safety.
The importance of accessibility and affordability in travel has been a central theme in my journey. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore new corners of the world, even on a tight budget. That’s why I dedicate my efforts to uncovering budget-friendly lodgings that cater specifically to solo travelers like us.
Over the years, I’ve mastered the art of seeking out accommodations that provide both value and quality. From charming hostels to budget hotels that offer cozy rooms at unbeatable prices, I’ve done the legwork so you can focus on what really matters—enjoying your adventure.
My personal experiences taught me that quality travel is not just a privilege for those with deeper pockets. It’s attainable by anyone willing to plan thoughtfully and use a few insider tips and tricks along the way.
As we move forward, my goal is to encourage you to embrace your desire for adventure without letting financial constraints hold you back. In the next section, I’ll delve into how I’ve balanced my love for travel with other aspects of my life, why it’s crucial to find that balance, and how you, too, can live fully beyond the routine daily grind.
Life Beyond Travel: Finding Balance and Joy
While my adventures feed my passion for travel, they’ve also offered valuable insights into how I can balance this love with other parts of my life. I’m incredibly grateful to be a parent to four extraordinary grown-up children and a proud grandparent to one amazing grandchild. Sharing these roles brought immeasurable joy and taught me the importance of cherishing every moment, which perfectly complements my travels.
Beyond exploring new places, I find joy in simple pleasures, whether it’s a quiet day in the garden or an afternoon spent cooking for my family. Discovering how to balance these varied aspirations has allowed me to live fully and appreciate what each new day brings.
Solo travel taught me that life can be vibrant and fulfilling beyond the constraints of everyday routines. The courage to step outside your comfort zone, no matter your age or where you’re at in life, opens up new possibilities for personal growth and happiness. Living each day to its fullest isn’t solely achieved through travel, but by embracing the available opportunities and making the most of every experience.
I believe that our daily routines shouldn’t limit our zest for life. It’s about enriching your journey with diverse experiences—whether on an adventure or in your backyard. I invite you to join me in celebrating life through exploration and personal discovery, reminding ourselves that the adventure we seek is never out of reach.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my mission through Solo Travel. Whether it’s immersing yourself in a new culture or seeking delight in familiar surroundings, remember there’s always a path to living your best life. Let’s make it happen, one step at a time.

A few questions came to mind as I was reading:
What advice would you give to someone who wants to take their first solo trip but feels nervous about safety and loneliness?
How do you go about finding budget-friendly accommodations that still feel safe and welcoming for solo travelers? Are there specific platforms or tips you recommend?
Do you have a favorite solo travel destination so far, and what made it stand out for you?
How do you stay connected with your family while traveling? Do you have any tips for managing that balance on the road?
You mentioned life beyond travel—how do you find time for both adventure and grounding routines like gardening or family time?
Looking forward to hearing more about your travels and your tips for making solo travel empowering, not intimidating. Your story is a true encouragement to anyone considering stepping out of their comfort zone!

Hello there!
Thank you for your comment. The advice I would give is to maybe research the destination or even use social media. There are plenty of pages on Facebook for solo travellers.
I tend to use booking.com for most of my accommodation ideas, The site is very helpful.
I use social media and just normal txt or WhatsApp to keep in touch with family and friends.
I work full time so I have to wait for rest days or book holidays to travel!
i went to Dublin last year and it was lovely but a little pricey, there are a lot of locations I’m hoping to visit in the future!
I hope you find this helpful.
